The event, kicked-off with a ribbon cutting by Glendale Mayor Elaine Scruggs welcomed businesses and consumers from around Arizona to network.

Terry Williams of Glendale Special Events and Tourism and  members of  First Institutional Baptist Church Dance Ministry look on during the ribbon cutting.

“We're pleased to be the host city for this year’s event,” said Scruggs. “I'm sure the expo organizers and their guests will find the accommodations at the Renaissance and Westgate to be first-rate and a perfect fit for their event.”

The Arizona Black Expo & Job Fair provided African-American businesses an opportunity to market their goods and services to consumers and network with other businesses; provides companies the opportunity to market to the African-American community; and expose African Americans to companies that will enhance their businesses, health and personal life.

Recording Artists Anthony Hamilton Presented his Wife Tarsha McMillan Hamilton
at the 2008 AZ Black Expo at the Renaissance Glendale Hotel & Spa

Phoenix, AZ, -   - TARSHA’ MCMILLIAN HAMILTON was the featured entertainer at the 2008 Arizona Black Expo held at The Luxurious Renaissance Glendale Hotel & Spa in Glendale Arizona . Like many of the premiere artists, McMillian Hamilton is a phenomenal writer and singer who started in the church. She brings her remarkable voice and style to Arizona with her inspiring debut CD The McMillian Story.

Tarsha’  ministered to many at the inaugural Prayer Breakfast the morning of the Expo with a voice compared to the strength of Chaka Kahn, simplicity of Aretha Franklin and the spirit of Mahalia Jackson. She  also performed during the Expo with an introduction from her husband, Anthony Hamilton. Tarsha’ was available during the event for a meet and greet and autograph session.

Anthony Hamilton, who hails from Charlotte, North Carolina first discovered his talent while singing in his churches choir at age ten. In 1993, he left Charlotte and headed to New York City where he signed with Uptown Records. Anthony was first introduced to mainstream audiences with his singing of the chorus on the Grammy Award nominated Nappy Roots’ “Po' Folks" album in 2002. He has recorded these albums, Comin’ from Where I’m From, certified gold Ain’t Nobody Worryin’, Soulife and Southern Comfort. He is currently working on the soon to be released album, The Point Of It All.

At the 2006 BET Awards, Hamilton won the BET J "Cool Like That" Award. And he made a cameo in the film, American Gangster as a soul singer, to which he also contributes music to the film's soundtrack. During the 2008 BET Awards, Hamilton covered/performed Al Green’s "Tired of Being Alone" during a tribute to Green's career.

"We are honored to have Tarsha’ McMillian Hamilton as our featured guest at the 2008 Arizona Black Expo", says TLC President Michael Kelly. “The fact that her husband, Anthony, an accomplished entertainer is flying into Phoenix from a concert back east, to introduce Tarsha’ is a testimony to the love he has for his wife and fits well into our event theme, “It’s a Family Affair.”

Amazingly enough, the cost of a ticket to this fantastic event was only $10, not only for the concert but the conference also! Children 12 and under are free making this a "Family Affaire"!
