The 19th annual Glitter & Glow Block Party rocks downtown Glendale!

By Bette  and Ed Sharpe - Glendale Daily Planet

More than 75,000 people, 20 glowing tethered hot air balloons, 10 bands and several festival food vendors are expected to for this one night event, Saturday, January 11, 2014; in downtown Glendale. The event starts at 4:00 p. m. and closes at 10:00 p. m. The event is free and open to the public. Parking may cost $10.00, however.

The 1.5 million lights of Glendale Glitters were first seen on Friday, November 29th 2013 when Glendale Mayor Jerry Weiers and Phoenix Coyotes Captain Shane Doan flipped the "switch" to light the lights. It is time to say so long to the 2013 Glendale Glitters and the holiday season.

Basking the glow and all smiles along with Balloon  Pilot Ashley West, the tethered hot air balloons offered fun and excitement for passengers and onlookers Saturday night. The roar of the gas jets and the resulting heat and light (or glow) was in part what the night was about.
