Bill
Nelson Memorial Award – speech by by outgoing
Glendale Camper of Commerce chairperson Sandy Petraitis
"The
Chamber lost a dear friend this past year when William “Bill” Nelson
passed away in December. Bill and his wife June were fixtures for many
years as volunteers at Chamber and Community events and Bill was Chairman
of the Board in 2002. The Nelsons embodied “volunteerism” and in
Bill’s honor, we would like to present the first annual Bill Nelson
Memorial Volunteer of the Year Award to Steve Adams of Alphagraphics.
Steve has contributed in many ways to the Chamber, helping us revamp our
financial reporting procedures, helping us on membership recruitment
efforts and printing a number of Chamber items, such as the invitations
you received for this event. Steve has served for several years as the
Chamber’s Treasurer and has helped us through many of the financial hard
times we’ve experienced over the past few years. It is my honor to
present this memorial award to him."
