Artists of PSA Art Awakenings Acclaimed
 at 10th Anniversary Soiree

Celebration brought artists, staff and friends together to commemorate 10 years of service and the hard work of the Art Awakenings artists.

(GLENDALE, Ariz.) – On Saturday, November 13, 2010 the staff and artists of PSA Art Awakenings brought together their friends, family and the community to celebrate the organization’s 10th year of business. Lunch was served, artwork sold, raffle prizes won and, most importantly, the artists that make PSA Art Awakenings what it is, were celebrated.

"Having been in the community for ten years now is a huge accomplishment and we have the artists to thank for that," said PSA Art Awakenings president Karen Puthoff. "This day was for them; to display their works, celebrate their success in the program and recognize them for all they have accomplished."

President’s Award went to artist Mat Uhl  - He exclaims, "ART SAVES LIVES!"

The final, and most prestigious, award to be presented was the President’s Award which went to artist Mat Uhl. Chosen for going the extra mile in support of his peers and the PSA staff, Uhl is an Art Awakenings alumni and currently leads a support group, works as a studio assistant, attends events to promote PSA Art Awakenings and created custom bookmarks for staff to distribute to legislators during Hill Day in Washington D.C.

In addition to the award presentation, artists also had booths set up to display their works for sale, including a range of mediums from acrylic paintings, to pencil drawings, jewelry and blankets.

Studios throughout Arizona offer therapeutic programs in a supportive setting to promote mental health, personal growth, vocational training, and physical wellness through the performing and visual arts. Downtown Phoenix, Casa Grande and Tucson Galleries, art exhibits, First Friday and other venues offer artists opportunities to sell their paintings, sculptures, mosaics, jewelry, fine art, music, poetry, and writings to benefit from art sales.
