A bit about Smashburger
SunWest Burgers is the Franchisee of Smashburger for Maricopa County. They are a Founding Club franchisee member and part owner in the overall company developing the
Smashburger brand.
SunWest Burgers principals--David Doty, Chuck Riske and Robin Yoshimura—collectively bring over 40 years of restaurant industry experience to
smashburger. Last year, they signed a 30-unit development agreement with
Smashburger to develop units in Maricopa County over the next seven years. They state "Our goal at
Smashburger is to become every city’s favorite Burger place."
Named for the cooking method, Smashburgers are either a one-third or half-pound ball of 100-percent fresh—not frozen—certified Angus beef smashed on a flat grill to sear in superior juicy flavor.
To further the “better burger” experience, Smashburgers are served on a toasted artisan bun and topped with a selection of real cheeses, the freshest produce, and distinctive toppings including haystack onions, guacamole or even a fried egg.
Smashburger is known for its savory burgers, but the restaurant also serves up delicious
Smashchicken sandwiches, Smashdogs, and Smashsalads, with sides like veggie fries and rosemary and garlic–seasoned
Smashfries.
Burger lovers can pair their meals with Häagen-Dazs shakes, root beer floats, beer and wine.
Smashburger’s menu features a special Arizona Smashburger made with Arizona residents in mind.
The Arizona Smashburger starts with a one-third or half-pound 100-percent certified Angus beef burger topped with habanero cheese, guacamole, lettuce, tomato, onion, chipotle mayo and fresh jalapenos on a chipotle bun.
The menu also features the Arizona Devil Dog, the Arizona Cobb Salad -made with diced chicken breast, bacon, cheddar cheese, tomatoes, red onions, crisp romaine and iceberg lettuce, with spicy chipotle sauce and topped with guacamole and fresh jalapenos—and a Cactus Vanilla Shake made with Häagen-Dazs ice cream.
Tom Ryan, formally of Pizza Hut
and McDonalds, developed the Smashburger process.
A Smashburgers is made with top quality Angus beef (never frozen), a
squirt of butter while on the grill, then the patty is covered with wax
paper and then it is "smashed" or pressed to sear in the flavor
for a count of ten. This is
done at high temperatures to sear the meat.
"Fresh, never frozen 100% certified Angus beef smashed, seared
and seasoned on the grill."
