Laura Graff Hit and Run  Search for the Driver wins Courygraph Productions a
2008 VIDEOGRAPHER Award  in the Web/News and Information
Category

The Videographer Awards  announced the CouryGraph productions was an Award of Distinction Winner in  the 2008 international awards competition that recognizes outstanding achievement in video productions. CouryGraph's entry, Laura Graff Hit and Run  Search for the Driver, was one of  about 2,100 entries from throughout the United States and several other countries in the 2008 competition.

The Videographer Awards is one of the most coveted awards in the video industry. Over the past 12 years, thousands of production and communication professionals have entered their best and most creative work. The goal of the Videographer Awards is to identify and recognize the video artisans who excel in the scope of their own environment. Winners range from network news operations to local cable access...from large production companies to freelancers...from international advertising agencies to student
producers.

Winners were selected from  categories under the headings of television productions, video productions and new media.  The Award of Distinction is awarded for projects that exceed industry standards.

"We're very pleased with our accomplishments in this year's Videographer competition, and extremely proud all of our staff and Officer Matt Barnett of the Glendale AZ , who did a wonderful narration of this call for information," said Ed Sharpe. Producer and Director of CouryGraph Productions. "It is gratifying to know that the expertise and talent of our staff has been recognized by our peers within the industry."

Sharpe recognizes that, "It is not just his and his staff's videography or the engineering and delivery of the material that make an award winning entry, so it is always nice to share the recognition with the narrator in a news story." "Many times the main on-screen personality is the PIO at an accident scene or a foreman at a construction site" Sharpe claims. In this instance, Matt Barnett, who narrated this call for action to find Laura Graff's Hit and Run Driver, is also an award recipient.

What the  Video was about:
Description On the evening of September 23, 2006 at 7:00 pm, Glendale firefighters responded to a car and motorcycle crash involving Laura Graff, a 24-year-old Glendale woman.

She was riding her motorcycle at 59th Avenue and Mercer Lane in Glendale Arizona. They found Graff barely clinging to life from the severe injuries caused by hit and run driver. The driver of the vehicle that hit Laura fled the scene. This footage was the first reporting of the event and a call for witnesses to help locate this driver. This driver remains unidentified.

Unlike a traditional television newscast, this production with it's call for information narrated by Glendale Police PIO Matt Barnett, still remains online shadowing the perpetrator... someday they will be identified. Laura Graff survived and is undergoing therapy to overcome the effects of her injuries. You may also see the ceremony whereas she awarded the fire  fighters, ambulance drivers and hospital trauma personal for helping save her life in an article  at http://www.glendaledailyplanet.com/ .

About CouryGraph Productions:
Ed Sharpe and CouryGraph Productions are the creator of KKAT-IPTV and Glendale Daily Planet.
Glendale Daily Planet, the parent organization of KKAT-IPTV was started in 2004 as the first community journalism news site in Glendale and perhaps all of Arizona... Serving The Metro West Side of the Valley of the Sun, Glendale Daily Planet has witnessed, participated in and recorded the further rejuvenation of the downtown core, the meteoric rise of the 'Glendale Sports Empire' and the restoration of historic sections of the town.

One aspect Sharpe is most proud of is the ability to have a continuous 24/7 stream of archived footage in the player but yet, when a special event arises, have the ability to go live interrupting the pre-programmed content to cover the event. With the advent of higher speed EVDO radio cards and compact portable satellite terminals the options are limitless. See at
www.glendaledailyplanet.com

Sharpe  is a member of  the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS),  Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE), Independent Feature Project (IFP) (IFP/PHX), Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ), National Press Photographers Association (NPPA), Southwest Museum of Engineering, Communications and Computation (SMECC)  and other associations.
