The 29th annual Telly Awards received in excess of 14,000 entries this year from 50 states and foreign countries.

"It is honor to receive a highly respected national award for work in showcasing events that take place in our city," Sharpe said. "The Telly awards highlight the high standards of excellence we wish to achieve. In addition, it is our wish to provide our viewership with information they can trust and enjoy."

Sharpe said, "This is yet another event at our city's civic center that was not only entertaining but also extremely educational.  It was an honor to attend this event celebrating César Chávez's life, and to hear Luis Valdez speak about their trials and tribulations was awe inspiring."

Luis Valdez related to  when he first pitched  the idea of El Teatro Campesino to farm-worker champion César Chávez, who replied there was no money to fund it! Valdez didn't let that stop him.

Other Accolades for the CouryGraph César Chávez Breakfast Event Documentary efforts

The entire web presentation with consisted of the webpage with text and still photos and links and also this video won  an Arizona Press Club Award this year also.

Judges said,  “We picked the Chávez piece as the only winner in this category because it made use of multiple media. There was a video, photos, links to resources, historical text and a quiz. The piece tried to tell the full story ofCésar  E. Chávez and how Luis Valdez was influenced by him. Online projects should always attempt to tell a story in a manner that best suits the medium. The multiple media here were used to their full advantage..."

About CouryGraph Productions / Glendale Daily Planet / KKAT-IPTV in Glendale, AZ

Glendale Daily Planet, the parent organization of KKAT-IPTV was started in 2004 as the first community journalism news site in Glendale and perhaps all of Arizona... Serving The Metro West Side of the Valley of the Sun, Glendale Daily Planet has witnessed, participated in and recorded the further rejuvenation of the downtown core, the meteoric rise of the 'Glendale Sports Empire' and the restoration of historic sections of the town.

One aspect Sharpe is most proud of is the ability to have a continuous 24/7 stream of archived footage in the player but yet, when a special event arises, have the ability to go live interrupting the pre-programmed content to cover the event. With the advent of higher speed EVDO radio cards and compact portable satellite terminals the options are limitless. See at

About Luis Valdez and El Teatro Campesino

Luis Valdez was born in Delano, California, in 1940 in a migrant labor camp. Chávez's family moved in nearby a year later. Valdez experienced firsthand the harsh life of migrant farm laborers.

During the  famous 1965 Grape Strike strike in California, Valdez had joined Chávez in his efforts to organize the farm workers of Delano. It was there that Valdez brought together farm workers and students to found El Teatro Campesino (the Workers' Theater). Chávez's activism inspired Valdez to go ahead with the theater group, which still operates today at the historic Mission San Juan Bautista in California. They also have an online shop if you would like to purchase some of Luis Valdez's works See: http://www.elteatrocampesino.com/
