Glendale
AZ (October, 15) - The Winners
of The 2009 W3 Awards have been announced by the International Academy of
the Visual Arts. Ed Sharpe and his associates at CouryGraph Productions
were the recipient of a W3 international creativity award for news
websites.
Glendale Daily Planet, the parent organization of
KKAT-IPTV was started in 2004 as the first community journalism news site
in Glendale and perhaps all of Arizona... Serving The Metro West Side of
the Valley of the Sun, Glendale Daily Planet has witnessed, participated
in and recorded the further rejuvenation of the downtown core, the
meteoric rise of the 'Glendale Sports Empire' and the restoration of
historic sections of the town.
Sharpe exclaimed "It is always wonderful to
be recognized by yet another group of peer judges for the news and
entertainment work we produce here at the Glendale Daily
Planet." Sharpe continued I would also like to take this time
to thank all my associates here, Lesa Holstein - Book Topics Editor, Bette
Sharpe - Photographer, Jamise Liddell - Entertainment Editor, Erick
O'Donnell - Reporter and Bill
Schreiner - Associate Engineer... we make a great team!"
Receiving nearly 3,000 entries, The W3 Awards
honors outstanding Websites, Web Marketing, and Web Video created by some
of the best interactive agencies, designers, and creators worldwide.
"We were incredibly impressed by
the quality and creativity of this year's entries. W3 winners continue
to set the bar in Web development and design, push the limits of web
advertising creativity and advance the use of web video. We are thrilled
to have reviewed such a diverse and respected pool of work" said
Linda Day, the executive director of the IAVA. "On behalf of the
entire Academy, we congratulate this year's W3 Award winners as they
continue to advance Internet creativity and greatly contribute to the
robust and ever-changing online community."
W3 Awards Info:
The W3 Awards honors creative excellence on the
Web, and recognizes the creative and marketing professionals behind award
winning Websites, Web Video and Online Marketing programs. Simply put, the
W3 is the first major Web competition to be accessible to the biggest
agencies, the smallest firms, and everyone in between. Small firms are as
likely to win as Fortune 500 companies and international agencies.
The W3 Awards is sanctioned and judged by the
International Academy of the Visual Arts, an invitation-only body
consisting of top-tier professionals from a "Who's Who" of
acclaimed media, advertising, and marketing firms.

One aspect Sharpe is most proud of is the ability to have a continuous
24/7 stream of archived footage in the player but yet, when a special
event arises, have the ability to go live interrupting the pre-programmed
content to cover the event. With the advent of higher speed EVDO radio
cards and compact portable satellite terminals the options are limitless.
Residents can now catch stories of interest on their schedule, taking
advantage of the on-demand character of Internet media. No more waiting
for 5 or 10pm and no need to program the TiVo. Important stories remain
available, a mouse click away, for years in the online archives..
Sharpe is a member of the National Academy of
Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE),
Independent Feature Project (IFP) (IFP/PHX), Investigative Reporters and
Editors (IRE), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE),
Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ), National Press Photographers
Association (NPPA), Southwest Museum of Engineering, Communications and
Computation (SMECC), AABJ - Arizona Asociation of Black Journalists,
Arizona Press Club, Association for Educational Communications and
Technology (AECT) and other associations.
The work of Ed Sharpe from CouryGraph Productions and other participative
community journalists and engineering staff may be viewed, 24-hours a day,
seven days a week at http://www.glendaledailyplanet.com/ .
